How the GRC came about

Connecting gamers in the Arabian Gulf

The GRC was founded shortly after the first Middle East Film & Comic Con in 2012. Omar Ismail had attended MEFCC to run Shadowrun for all comers – mostly as a way to meet other gamers. A few weeks later a dozen of those gamers met in a coffee shop and decided on a name and strategy – to run mini-conventions, to use social media to connect gamers, and to act as regional advocates for tabletop roleplaying.

The GRC remains an informal group of amateur hobby gamers. Several of the founders are still actively involved. We run 2-3 mini-conventions a year, and our social media channels are active with gaming discussions and calls for players and GMs.
