Hi, folks.

I'm the Barwickian, also known as Andy, and I'm the site admin.

I've been playing tabletop games since 1981, when a schoolfriend brought in a copy of Dr Eric Holmes' edition of Basic D&D. I started gamesmastering a few weeks after I started playing.

Since then I've played and run more systems than I can count, in almost every genre: AD&D, D&D, Traveller, RuneQuest, Harn & HarnMaster, Chivalry & Sorcery, GURPS, Hero System, Rolemaster, MERP, Pathfinder and more. My shelves are stacked with games of days gone by as well as more modern games.

I've played a few wargames, and really enjoyed those I've played (Warhammer Fantasy, Laserburn, Chainmail, DBA and DBM, plus a wargaming club's house rules), but roleplaying games are my true gaming love.

My other hobbies include landscape archaeology (medieval villages is my speciality), history, fantasy and science fiction books and films, 3-d art, mapmaking and worldbuilding.

I guess I tick most geek boxes.

Hi from Omar Ismail otherwise known as Omar Ismail.

I'm the GRC chairman. Have been into freeform roleplaying since I was 6 or so, into RP videogames for maybe 16 years, and into tabletop for something like 10.

I started the GRC with a scrap of notepad paper stuck to the back wall at a booth I got given at Comicon when they said one of their artists hadn't shown up and I asked if I could use it. I reigned in the entire UAE's roleplaying community at the time (Myself and 3 others), in the hopes of getting a couple more players.

We got 70.

And now we're here.

I've played S&S, D&D 1->4, Shadowrun 4th, Runequest, L5R, WoD, Exalted, CoC, Twilight 3000, Cyber Generation, Dark Heresy, and I'm sure I'm missing a ton more.

In my real life I'm a Standup Comedian, an ex-Investment Analyst, and ex-IT Support guru. I currently do a combination of performances and consulting to live.

Thanks for setting up the new and improved forums Andy, they're wonderful, and so are you.

Hey Gamers!

My name is Dale. Been playing RPGs since the early 90s, cutting my teeth on a few Palladium RPG titles, namely Heroes Unlimited and Robotech. Quickly jumped into the old 2nd edition DnD and Shadowrun 1st and 2nd edition before putting on the GM hat.

Spent most of the last 15 years being the primary GM for my old gaming group back in the states, running a multitude of games and systems. Most comfortable throwing on that GM hat for the most part, but I do enjoy throwing the bones on occasion as a PC.

I am a Restaurant Manager by trade (come see me at PF Changs MOE), which means my weekends are shot.

Hope to include myself in more games in the future, as well as running some games that I love to run. Namely custom Fantasy Settings (using a personalized D20 system), Shadowrun as well as Star Wars Saga edition.

Hi all,

I'm Ken De Pauw (as you may have guessed from my username)

My obssession with gaming starting at the tender age of 6 when my parents bought me an Amiga Commodore 500, and they've regretted it ever since. I've never actually done much pen & paper RPGs at all as I've always been more of a PC video game type. During high school I cut my teeth on tabletop gaming through Warhammer 40k (Eldar & Chaos), Necromunda, and Hero Quest. Unfortunately have not been able to continue that due to work... growing up is a pain!

RPGs are by far my favourite genre of games with Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Dragon Age, WoW, Neverwinter Nights, Fallout, and many more being some of my favourites. Despite not really having played pen & paper, I've always been interested in D&D lore and used to read the books more times than I can remember.

By day I'm a digital marketing director at an advertising company, specialising in manipulating the interwebz for my clients gains! (unfortunately not as exciting as it sounds...)

Looking forward to meeting you guys over future sessions, cons, etc. if you can bear with a newbie!

Hi guys,

I'm Mo, I'm the Dubai representative for the GRC. So if you're running a game in Dubai and are looking for players or vice versa, let me know.

I've been gaming for as long as I can remember (flashes of broken Atari joysticks), but I was introduced to table top RPGs in college by my roommate and I've been hooked ever since. I've been gaming on and off since then, but it became more frequent about 6 years ago when I met Andy, and since I joined the GRC I have no time for anything other than work and gaming.

I'm a journalist by trade, so my hours are all over the place and my gaming is now restricted to just the weekend.

I’m also the guy who organizes the GRC’s Dubai events, so if you have any ideas, suggestions, recommendations, or willing to assist in any way please let me know.

Hey guys,

I'm Tarek. I'm the Abu Dhabi Area Rep for the GRC. If you need help getting a game or group going in AD, you can talk to me.

I've been born with a keyboard and mouse in my hand, and been gaming since I remember, starting with that F1 racer and the very first prince of persia (With the white pajamas prince), and pacman too. I've been introduced to roleplaying by a friend of mine when I was in Syria. He did it mainly on yahoo chat rooms and it was friggin awful and cringeworthy now that I look back, but I thought it was fun and that I was cool and hip for doing it. I eventually graduated to play-by-post games. I got introduced to the GRC during the 2012 minicon, started gaming with them later that summer, and haven't looked back since.

I like to play systems that give me a lot of options (Both during character generation and playing), and that make combat feel dangerous and visceral in a consistent sense. GURPS is pretty much my ideal system, but Pathfinder RPG is a close second. I also am a casual wargamer and hobbyist. I play both Warmahordes, and a bit of Infinity.

I cosplay occasionally. I can sow a bit. I am trying to get into SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism, kinda like a renfair) heavy fighting.

I run a pathfinder game every Friday in Abu Dhabi too.

Hello

I'm Mark Markham. I've been into role-playing and sci-fi/fantasy for as long as I can remember. I currently teach English out in the Liwa/Gharbia Western region. I managed to attend the last con in Abu Dhabi and I'm looking forward to mini-con this month. I would like to get into a regular game, but Liwa is a long way from anywhere.

Hi y'all

I'm Tarek Fadel from Dubai. I've been a PC gamer 4 starting on my Dad's i386 (the original). I got introduced to PnP RPGs by a friend at university. Needless to say I was hooked. I've predominantly played D&D 3.5 and 4e with maybe rolling a couple of characters in other systems (never got to play though =\ ).

I'm always up for trying new games/worlds/systems and look forward to doing so in the UAE.

Hope to see y'all soon :-D

Hello, I'm Andrew Hayward, also known as Theiket. Most of my characters will probably be called Theiket Hawklight whenever I'm in a game. It's my signature name generally.

I'm fifteen and I've been using computers for gaming since I was about five, I had a brief stint with consoles around my early teens and I've given up mostly on them, although I do possess a PS3 in my room and I have dibs on a PS2 back in Australia.
I've gotten into D&D recently, I found out how much fun it was around April at the MEFCC where I met the GRC clan and played about three games that day, immense fun. I've been trying to find a game ever since and I've joined a regular game on Friday's and I'm starting to DM a game that should be on every Tuesday for my school friends, starting tomorrow.

I hope to see you all at the Mini-Con at some point, although I may well be moving so this gamer in the UAE may be short lived.

Hello Everyone

My name is Tam, I'm 30 years old and from South Africa. I have been in Dubai since September and am very happy to have found this group.

I have been role playing for 13 years now. Mostly D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder, but I have experience with Call of Cthulu, Warhammer- Rogue Trader, Star Wars, Star Trek, D20 Modern and various systems played at various cons.

I am a physiotherapist and work some fridays and saturdays, but not always the whole day. I have my own vehicle and I live in Mirdif. I enjoy Metal and Old school rock, I love to read, eat, meet new people and learn new things.
